Sugar Creek is the 2nd book in the Destiny Ohio series by Toni Blake. I am such a huge fan of her writing, she really captures romance and love so divinely on paper! Sugar Creek is about being at a crossroads in life and trusting the heart to point to the right direction. Mike Romo and Rachel Farris will experience just that, all centered around the Farris Family Apple Orchard in the Fall.
Rachel got out of Destiny and never looked back, built a life in Chicago where she built herself a successful life and escaped the poor Farris image displayed by her relatives. But when Grandma Edna calls upon Rachel to help with the apple harvest, she is catapulted back to the town she thought she'd never call "home" again. Upon her arrival she is pulled over by Mike Romo, town cop, and also a family nemesis. She hates him and desires him all at once. The more time she spends with Edna, Jenny, Sue Ann, Tessa, Amy and Mike, the more she feel a comfort and love that can't be duplicated back in Chicago. She becomes torn between happiness at home, and money/success in of which define her in Chicago.
Mike Romo is a good cop, rough around the edges, born and raised in Destiny. He carries a cross after losing his little sister at a young age and never forgiving himself for the tragedy. He thinks he can make things right by protecting the town as a cop.
Mike and Rachel start off rocky but boy do they engage in a hot sexual relationship! This starts off as a temporary no strings attached thing - however Rachel is unknowingly helping Mike to conquer some of his demons just by listening and getting him to open up, and Mike is unknowingly showing Rachel that he is he guy for her in every way, not just in the bedroom.
Both Rachel and Mike are stubborn to admit their feelings. Will Rachel stay in Destiny? Happy Reading!!!

This book is the second in the Destiny series and with it Ms. Blake has found her groove. The secondary story line leaves you wanting to jump ahead to see how it played out. Love this book and I already own book 3,4 and 5.
Great second book! I am looking forward to reading the next Destiny books. Mike was a total hotty!!! Great book! Worth the price. I usually don't buy the higher priced e books but I am glad I did on both of these books!

This is the first book I have read of Toni Blake's and it wont be the last! Love the banter between Rachel and Mike. I love a sassy heroin and a sexy alpha hero! Looking forward to more!!
This is the second book I've read of Toni Blake's (the first being One Reckless Summer), and I love the little town of Destiny and the inhabitants!. I didn't like Mike and Rachel's story quite as much as I liked Jenny and Mick's, and I found myself skim reading through Aunt Edna's back story, but it was still a great read and I look forward to reading the next book in the series, and finding out more about Tessa and Lucky.
I know this was a used book, but literally it was falling apart. The only reason I gave it 2 stars, is to complete the set.
I read the first in this series, ONE RECKLESS SUMMER, and loved it so much I joined Toni's yahoo group ) However, I blushingly had to confess to her that I LOVED this story a little better. It is a love/hate relationship, which is one of my favorite kinds of romances, and as usual, it's filled with small town characters and a mystery to boot! Toni is a great character writer, and as usual there are more than one storylines going on in the book, so there is plenty there to keep you going. Plus, the romance is great, as usual. There is pathos, charm, small-town good feelings, and a very funny, very hot relationship building between a Farris and a Romo--oh no! I can't wait for the next in the Destiny books. If they each keep getting better, we're in for a great ride.
