A well written and thoroughly engaging book. The book gets stronger and stronger as the storyline unfolds. The characters are interesting while the plot line is unexpected. My sense is that books 2 and 3 are going to continue to see the characters grow with engaging plotlines to keep one reading deep into the night.
Prepare to have your world rocked! Among the Shadows is the first book in a new series by Darrick Dean. The premise is that many of world's myths and stories about monsters were actually based on a kernel of fact. So who can save us when the forces of Darkness raise up their armies of monsters drawn from different places and even different times? That job is for the Watchers of the Light. Meet Ethan, Milena, their daughter Kyra, and many others as they try to stop the latest attempt by the forces of darkness to conquer the world.

This first book is a great read. Interesting main characters and loads of action and battles. And you even learn a bit of history while having a great time. I'm looking forward to the sequel.
